KSС Group Ramps up Production of Braking Equipment for railway transport

30 January 2024

Braking Equipment Division of KSC Group has delivered 845 sets of brake disks to VSM-Service LLC. Modern Lastochka EMUs and Sapsan high-speed trains will be equipped with braking equipment.

The production site in the Leningrad Region manufactured axial and wheel brake disks from steel and cast iron. The scope of delivery included single- or double-friction disks, depending on the type of product (axial or wheel type), hubs for the axial disk and a set of fasteners. The friction and mechanical properties of the finished products were confirmed by the mandatory tests. The products also passed the outgoing inspection according to the design documentation.

Specialists of the Braking Equipment Division have improved the technology of production and machining of brake disks and hubs to improve product quality. A new type of cutting plates was used in the manufacture of cast iron wheel disks, which reduced the time for processing blanks by 10%.

In 2024, the division plans to triple its output and to supply about 2,500 axial and wheel brake disks for rolling stock using the components made in Russia and friendly countries.
